10 Things I Learnt When I Moved Out of Home

Love is the Nicest Gift of All

It's been two months since I moved to New Zealand and moved out of my family home. I absolutely love it here and have even decided to stay a little longer than planned. Today I want to share with you 10 things I've learned since moving:

  1. Do not go grocery shopping when you're hungry, it'll cost you
  2. Life is expensive and things cost money (a good iron costs how much?!)
  3. Being sick when you live alone sucks
  4. Cleaning is not that difficult
  5. I can actually cook a decent meal
  6. Laundry piles up fast, especially when you have to pay to use the washing machine
  7. Google Maps is my best friend, particularly when I travel on foot
  8. I enjoy being independent
  9. I am a capable adult, most of the time
  10. Distance doesn't seem too far when you have the internet

What did you learn when you moved out of home?

  1. I couldn't agree more with all these points especially no. 1! I am one of those people whose eyes are 'hungrier' than tummy so my husband ALWAYS make sure I eat before we do groceries shopping or we'll come home with triple the needed amount. LOL!

  6. The main thing I learnt when I moved out was that the fridge doesn't refill itself! The most harrowing realization ever.

I totally second not shopping when your hungry, too. I went after work to Tesco's on Monday and ended up buying pretty much everything from the Easter chocolate stand. I now have about 15 chocolate nest eggs, chicken gingerbread and mini eggs! NOT good for my thighs!

    1. You sound like you have it under control. I would add save your change for the laundry, find your local coffee shop and the library and enjoy!
